Call: Post-doctoral fellowship, San Raffaele, Milan

A three-year post-doctoral fellowship is available starting from January 2018 at the Mechanisms of Peripheral Tolerance Unit at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy (SR-TIGET), San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy. SR-TIGET is a world-wide leader Institute in the development and clinical application of cell and gene therapy-based approaches for the cure of genetic diseases. Major interests of the Unit are the mechanisms underlying immunological tolerance, which is responsible for maintaining tissue homeostasis and avoid adverse immune responses in several settings, including allogeneic bone marrow or solid organ transplantation, autoimmune diseases, allergy, and gene therapy.

We are looking for a highly motivated junior post‐doc with previous expertise in human immunology, and preferably experience with small animal models, to undertake a challenging project focused on the generation of Tolerogenic Dendritic Cells able to modulate immune responses to pathogenic and/or model antigens, taking advantage of cutting-edge technologies (state of the art genetic tools, and in vitro and in vivo immune assays). The final goal of the project is to develop cellular and molecular tools to restore/promote tolerance in vivo, in pre-clinical models of T-cell mediated diseases and gene therapy.

The successful candidate will work in a stimulating environment in close collaboration with researchers skilled in human and mouse immunology, autoimmune disease and gene therapy pre-clinical models, epigenetics and molecular biology.
